Abstract This paper presents an intelligent speed adaption system for vehicles on conventional roads. The fuzzy logic based expert outputs a recommended to ensure both safety and passenger comfort. includes geometrical features of the road, as well subjective perceptions drivers. It has been developed checked with real data that were measured instrumental incorporated in vehicle, several two‐lane roads located Madrid Region, Spain. Along road characteristics, other input variables are external factors, such weather conditions, distance preceding tire pressure, criteria, desired comfort level, selected by driver. output is most suitable specific type, considering factors may modify category thus, appropriate speed. information could be added adaptive cruise control vehicle. can very useful both, drivers autonomous vehicles, improve system.
